We Will Rock You Musical- Upgraded

Content -
We Will Rock You Musical is a musical based on songs of Queen. We Will Rock You Musical is booked by Ben Elton.

We Will Rock you is based on a group of Bohemians who struggle to keep in tact the the live music, fashion and freedom. This is place where everyone dresses, thinks and does everything the same under the watchful eye of the beast, Killer Queen apart from the bohemians who she is trying to capture the soul icon of rock and roll music. Killer Queen and her side man, Khashoggi have banished musical instruments and  music composers, and rock music forbidden. The Company Computers generate tunes and everybody downloads them. It is an age of Boy Bands and of Girl Bands. ''Of Boy and Girl Bands. Of Girl Bands with a couple of boys in them that look like girls anyway. Nothing is left to chance, hits are scheduled years in advance.''

A soul rebel and a wind thing who is called Galileo doesn't want to be a part of this fashite world and questios the idea of it all. But Killer Queen soon captures him where he meets Scaramouche a fellow rebel Bohemian 'defying the laws of gravity'. Galileo and Scaramouche escape from the hospital and become friends.

Since escaping the hospital, Scaramouch and Galileo are stalk by two other Bohemians, Meat and Brit. Meat and Brit take them to the Heartbreak Hotel, where the Bohemians find out that Galileo is the one- the one they have been looking for, the dreamer who van bring back Rock and Roll with his dreams. The Bohemians believe that there once was a Golden Age where the kids made there own music, formed bands of there own and wrote their own songs. ''They call that time, The Rhapsody.''
''Legend persists that somewhere on Planet Mall instruments still exist'' Killer Queen structs that Khashoggi must find the Bohemians, all of the Bohemians and bring them to her.

Khashoggi manages to break into the Heartbreak Hotel and captures the last remaining rebels and kills Brit, while Galileo and his ''bad arse babe escape'' (Scaramouche).  Khashoggi can do nothing else but tell  The Killer Queen that Galileo and Scaramouche escaped- Killer Queen is ready to blown Khashoggis mind and kills him.
Meanwhile the resitance is growing, Galileo and Bohemians go to the place of champions, where they find the lost vibe and a guitar and they sing there way back to the ages of Rock and Roll.

Themes -

Initially, the theme was to create a biographical story of Freddie Mercury, Although it found the original idea difficult to work with. So in2000, Ben Elton was approached about the project. Elton suggested taking the musical down a different path than the initial ideas, producing an original story that would capture the spirit of much of Queen music. May and Taylor worked closely with Elton, to incorporate Queen's songs into the story. Elton was inspired by the computer-controlled of science fiction film called the Matrix.

The key themes are brought up by the innovative storyline by Elton, that' revolve around the music in the world of today, and individuality of music, persons and style. The script is very funny and it is obvious the wit of Elton is throughout the musical.
I think the target audience  for this particular musical is the early Queen fans and with it musical appearance and suttle context it has adapted it's audience to musical lovers and a family musical. As this musical is associated around the songs by Queen and references a lot of other influential music artists around that time and there songs lyrics, generally the main audience are people who listened to Queen.  I think this musical really shone as there wasn't anything other musical like this, and the musical did so well.
I am a fan of Queen, when I found out we were doing We Will Rock You I was so excited. There is a a lot of jokes in there relating to other musical influences of that time and Queen themselves, and I didn't get some of the jokes but i considered this as a generation thing and more to do with the humour back in them days.

We will rock you was based on the songs by Queen- It is the longest running musical that has been play at the Dominion Theatre- opening on 14th May 2002 and is still going 11 years later. We will rock you was along side musicals such as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera and achieved a high audience rating, smashing the box office.
As this musical is based on an influential band of all time, it captured and attached wide audience straight away as to way it is such a huge hit in the West End.

The london production, which led the way for world-wide productions in Australia, Japan, Germany, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Las Vegas and all throughout Asia, it is now in it's 11th year on stage at The Dominion Theatre. In Auguest 2005 the show became the longest running musical to play at the Dominion, one of the West End's biggest theatres. It took the record from Grease the musical which ran at the Dominion for 3 Years.
We Will Rock you has become one of the West End's most enduring successes, outliving other West End hit musicals such Joseph, Oliver!,Flashdance and many more.
